When 2nd in the league Lewes Lions played away to bottom of the league Southwick Juniors it was the perfect opportunity to field 3 new 11 year olds in the side who were new to full pitch 70 minutes of hockey.
So it was for Oli Loader, Alex Thornett and Ben Battle who all played admirably in this 'step up' fixture. The scoring started early for Lewes with goals from Adam Stonly, a brace from Joe Rideout and further goals from Archie, Sam Worlidge and a couple from defender turner centre forward Harry.
The Southwick goal keeper deserves special mention, small but tenacious he kept Lewes from scoring many more. As it was 7-0 was the final score and Southwick Juniors, having a tough season will need to face a far younger Lewes side to hope to gain a point this season.
