Lewes Lions return to winning ways with a great 4-0 team performance at home on Saturday.

The Lions returned to winning ways with a solid 4-0 victory over local rivals Brighton. Putting behind them last weeks defeat at East Grinstead the Lions started the game in a positive manner playing simple passing team hockey. Confidence on the ball, missing last week, returned and the whole team worked hard to support the player with the ball. Jack Meacher again terrorised the oppositions defence producing a number of saves from the Brighton keeper and adding to the dents on the boards either side of the goal as a number of shots pinged past the posts. After great build up play involving, jack Bage, Max Griggs and Sam Worlidge weaving his way into the 25 and crossing the ball for Jack to take with his back to goal turning and slipping their adult to hit a well struck shot past their keeper.

Jonathan Cornish in the Lewes goal dealt well with the few half chances created by the route 1 Brighton approach. Half time saw Lewes disappointed to be just leading by a single goal. The start of the second half saw The Lions increase their tempo and within 10 minutes of the re-start saw them score probably the team goal of the season so far. Harry Devonport making another timely tackle started the move deep inside the Lions half, the ball first moving up the left hand side via, Freddie finding his path blocked the ball was swung back via, Sam Heinzl and Joe Rideout, Jamie Cooke, who put in another fine shift at right back, Max Grigs played a series of simple one twos with Jack M and Jack Bage before releasing Sam w who crossed the ball for man of the match Tom Black to score from 7 metres. A great example of simple crisp passing from the Lions.

Jack M score from a short corner and Max Griggs made it 4 - 0 diverting in Harry's fine strike from our variation at another short corner. Great team performance boys, including Finley Mansell making his debut for the U16s. Thanks to Pete Fuller and Peter Boyse for umpiring.
