Hailsham as usual at home fielded a strong side packed with older boys and a young Lions side depleted by late injuries and defections to the mens side struggle to cope in the first half. At half time shuffling the side of attacking players, man of the match, Dylan Williams stepped up to centre midfield with Stan Hughes dropping into defence alongside Louis provided the nucleus of a spirited second half performance which the Lions were unlucky not to have scored more than a single short corner from Louis Soudain. Preparation for the numerous Lions short corner resembled a brexit House of Commons motion with significant debate ensuing before each. But the variations payed of with Louis fishing an elaborate variation. Dylan, Hugh and Henry all unlucky with good efforts. Dirren played solidly in goal but left exposed in the first half as the Lions gave away possession deep in the opposition half. The unusually warm Hailsham day lead to a rather lethargic first half on the beach like pitch. A more spirited second half performance from the whole team who deserved at least a draw.
