Lions play havoc with Eastbourne Kestrels but only come away with a draw

A gutsy performance from the Lions in a hard fought match saw the Lions put on their best display in many weeks. With a good mix of senior players Lewes created numerous chances during the first quarter with great interplay between Jago, Hugh Porter (again tireless with his press on the Eastboune defence) Ben Battle and Charlie Branton. After several changes Jago found the roof of the net but only after Lewes had succumbed to quick breakaway from the Kestrels. Leon Keating, Henry Roser and Jamie Coombe all put in great work in the engine room, whilst the Oil Igham (playing his best game of the season) marshalled the defence of Dylan Williams, Barnaby Heinzl, Louis Soudain brilliantly. Henry Roser knocked in a Hugh Porter rebound only to see Eastbourne slot a short corner. With 10 mins to go Lewes's continuing pressure saw Henry convert his second and then in the dying seconds the Lions having well and truly cornered their prey let them escape with an equaliser. An great team performance against an older Eastbourne side.
