4 second half goals by Hugh Middleton, Louis Soudain, Jago Hussain and Toby Izzard over came a 2-0 half-time deficit to win the u16 Sussex Cup Final 4-3 against Eastbourne.

Lewes u16s travelled to Eastbourne for the final of the U16s Cup and in the heat found themselves 2 - 0 down to 2 well taken short corners by Eastbourne. Despite having more chances on goal and giving the Eastbourne keeper a good work-out Lewes were careless with their passing and allowing Eastbourne to pin Lewes back on the break. Eddie Cassleden and Gui Green continued to make telling tackles and probing passes from defence and with Jamies and Henry Roser marking the Eastbourne centre forward the opposition were reduced to just a handful of short-corners. Lewes certainly had pace up front with Ollie Sherfield, Toby Izzard and Jago Hussain causing the Eastbourne defence problems. Early in the second half Hugh Middleton latched on to a loose ball well inside the eastbourne half and after quick exchanges with Ollie Loader and then Ollie Sherfield on the edge of the D he cut inside 2 eastbound players and shot in to the left hand corner leaving the goal keeper kicking at fresh air. 2-1 and the Lions were roaring. Jago Hussain returned to the fray following a nasty first half kick and and played a games changing 25 minutes. Theo Whiting was causing the left hand side of Eastbourne's midfield and defence many problems and his intelligent pass released Jago who out passed 2 defenders reaching the back line inside the D before laying a perfectly weighted cross to Louise Soudain who side stepped a defender before clinically finishing the move, 2-2.

Eastbourne had a couple of breaks which Stan Hughes expertly snuffed out, but Lewes were penalised with a penalty corner which Eastbourne scored from - all three of their goals came from penalty corners. This riled the Lewes side and both Ollie Sherfield and Toby Izzard came close with tremendous shots forcing their keeper into good saves. Gui Green and Eddie Casselden pushed further upfield and Lewes held a tight press over Eastbourne. Jago once once again released on the right wing and this time he beat two defenders and feinted a pass and then embarased their keeper with a superb near post finish. 3-3 with 5 mins to go and Louis robbed an Eastbourne play, set Theo on his way who's pass to Jago was hit first time to Toby Izzard who expertly jinked the keeper to put Lewes 4-3 ahead. Lewes controlled possession of the ball during the final moments but the spectators had to endure an interesting award of a short corner to Eastbourne on the final whistle before running out worthy Sussex Champions.
