On the darkest day of the year under the dimming lights of a quiet Southdown club - the Lions lightened up the occasion for parents and spectators braving the late afternoon start. Taking a full 10 mins to move from 1st gear the Lions at last found some intensity as they quickly shifted through the gears as last week's poor performance became a distant memory. Despite having the ball in the net a number of times the Lions turned round at half time 3 -0 up following goals from Hugh Middleton, Ollie Sherfield and Hugh Middleton. A rousing team talk from young Kian Milne captaining the side for the first time resulted in an intensity which left Worthing struggling to cope with wave upon wave of Lewes pressure. Toby and Ollie picking up 2 further goals and Dylan Williams scoring 2 with further efforts from Hugh and Toby Coldbreath. Jamie Combs and Bertie Collison played solidly in defence supported by Kian, Xavier and Toby Hutchinson who all supported with tireless running on the flanks contributing to a number of good team goals following accurate passing.
Next weeks sees the Lions playing top of the table Horsham at Falmer in what will be an important 6 pointer.
