Once again the Lions ventured to the savanna of Horsham and found the Horsham u16 easy prey for the marauding u16 side. Handing debuts to the young Sam Harrop in goal who performed solidly producing 3 fine saves in the early moments of the game setting Lewes up and Oli Sherfield who slotted in seamlessly into the central midfield role and scoring the opening goal with a well taken shot following a mazy run from deep in his own half. Lewes fielded a young side, with Xavier Leggo, Kian Milne and Thomas Robinson all playing solidly in defence, marshalled professionally by Oli Ingham. Hugh Middleton, Toby Izzard and Henry Roser combined well in midfield providing plenty of opportunities for the forwards whilst also providing the bulk of the goals. Upfront Joe Wenstrom, Josh Randall playing well in their first games of the season, whilst the Branton brothers and Rufus Hodgkinson again showed shares in the final third.
The u16s have a home game against Eastbourne at 3pm the Southdown club next Saturday and another win would see them top of the table - buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
