A Jago Hussain first half hat-trick put the Lions 3-0 pat half-time - but the younger Lions side ran out of steam in the second half but were unlucky not to win the game during a frantic last 5 mins.

Jago Hussain - making the early running as the Club's leading scorer - with his 2nd consecutive hat-trick put in a man of the match performance for the Lions on the road at Brighton. The Lions gave a debuts to Charlie Holmes and Xavier Leggo two of a number of youngsters playing again for the u16s. Elliot Middleton, playing his first game of the season, Charlie Branton and Henry Roser all put in strong running mature performances setting great example to the younger players. Louis Soudain, galvanised the central midfield, supporting and shielding Finn Webster, Kian Milne, Xavier and Charlie in the defensive line up. Jamie Combe dropping back to sweeper organised the defence expertly and Stan Hughes played confidently in goal. Jago opening the scoring following a timely tackle from Louis, who released Kian on the right, whose pass found Elliot who skipped passed a couple of Bright players before laying the ball back to Jago who thumped the ball in off the left post. Rufus picked up the ball on the left and bamboozled the Brighton right back before passing to Charlie Branton who beat 2 players on the edge of the D before setting up Jago who wrong footed his marker and then launched a rasping shot which flew into the top right corner before their keeper even moved. With Lewes pressing high up the pitch Brighton became pinned in their own 25 and Jago completed his hat-trick with some great skill and clever stickwork.

In the heat the Lions wilted in the second half and careless passing allowed Bright back into the game with 3 well taken goals. Stan pulled of a number of fine saves to keep the score level and then during the last 10 mins Lewes found the rhythm again and both, Henry, Jago and Charlie were all unlucky not to have clinched the win at the end. A great team performance and further pitch time for a number of the younger Lions.
