Worthing ran out worthy winners in the final of the u16 Sussex Cup. 2 well taken goals just before halftime by worthing left the Lewes 4-2 down with too much to do in the second half despite a spirited performance by the younger Lewes side.

Drew Wain scored a superb first goal to cancel out a Worthing opener and Ben Battle's deft touch from a Gui Green ball into the D wrong footed the Worthing keeper to level the scores at 2-2 midway through the first half. But 2 well taken goals on the break by Worthing stunned Lewes. Great effort form the midfield of Drew, Oil Loader, Gui Green and Toby Izzard and resolute defending from Leon Keating, Oil Ingham, Captain Charlie Cooke, Louis Soudain and Hugh Middleton supported by solid goal keeping from Stan Hughes. The attack of Jago Hussain, Hugh Porter, Ben, Jamie Combe and Henry Roser continued to threaten but as lewes threw more players forward Worthing killed the game with 2 further counter attacks. A great effort from the u16s, all but 3 of the side will still be u16 next year when surely the cup beckons.
