Hugh Porter comes off the bench to score a brace to save the Lions bacon!

Playing a home game at Portslade provides an interesting challenge who appeared to have lost the goal seeking navigation systems in the first half against a well organised Mid Sussex side. Perhaps the goal scoring efforts of last week had taken their toll as attack after attack failed to find the net. Lewes went behind half way through the first half following a deflected shot through a crowed D giving Billy Palmer no chance. Billy was called on to make a number of crucial saves to keep Lewes in the game as chance after chance was sauntered at the other end.

Goal machine Hugh Porter was called into action 15 minutes before half time and with the clock showing 10 seconds of time remaining he slotted home following fine approach work by Jamie Cooke and the effervescent Sam Webster and a neat pass from goal scoring rival Ollie Amos to put the Lions on level terms at half time.

The team turned around their performance in the second half and Hugh pounced on another half chance to put Lewes 2-1 up. Man of the match - Ollie Loader had another sound game in defence again supported by Charlie Cooke whose tackling and distribution was immaculate. Connor Doyle played well in the unfamiliar role at right back.

The lions have a break next in the league until the new year but look forward to entertaining Horsham in the Sussex u16 cup at 1145 on Saturday 19th at the Southdown.
