Rising to the challenge from the Horsham Hotstars

It’s not often you can say that the match result is irrelevant but I think it is in this case. We did lose 6-1 against an experienced older side but it was an excellent game in terms of development for the Lionesses.

Their spirit and enthusiasm never faltered, in fact, it was difficult to always use our ‘rolling’ subs as no one wanted to come off and everyone battled so hard.

The match play today was much improved and we tackled well and tried new combinations of players together. We tried hard to move the ball around the pitch and the team supported each other well. I also loved that the girls themselves identified areas they need to improve on which shows great maturity.

A great and well deserved goal from Sofia in the final quarter received a great cheer from the team and supporters - both home and away. Horsham only scored one goal in the second half of the game as the Lionesses managed to increase pressure on them.
