Mould’s Marauders missing mojo

With their Captain back from a long injury, the Lewes Ladies were confident they could clinch a win in their opening game of the season.

Perhaps it was the onset of the cold weather, the extended warm up or maybe the sight of the injured Hep pushing a buggy which shocked the ladies into a 35 minute lapse of ‘Hockey Amnesia’? Either way, they found themselves a goal down at half time and popping glucose tabs like Shaun Ryder on a night out at the Hacienda.

That seemed to do the trick and the ladies in green pulled some magic out of the bag in the second half. A winding run up the right wing saw Richards push the ball to Leathers in front of goal from the byline. A quick scramble ensued and Harley popped the ball through the keeper’s legs from short range.

Defensively Laura ‘new boyf’ Rogers and Cloddy ‘bring-your-baby-to-work-day’ Love worked well to keep the opposition at bay, whilst Dionne the Gooding made some monumentous saves. Sadly Middies sealed the deal with a good reverse stick goal and Lewes followed with their best efforts but they were frantic to say the least.

Next week the ladies open the billing at the Southdown against South Saxons at 10.15. If you’re lucky you might spot a guest appearance from Brown-under.
