Like Absolute Beginners, Lewes started their first game of the new year with Changes – Defender, Miss Cunningham stood in as temporary umpire whilst awaiting the untimely arrival of Starman, Richard Walker. The Lewes defence were certainly put Under Pressure in the first half and Field Marshall Bruce had her work cut out rousing the troops to rally round at the back but their hard work resulted in the first half finishing goalless.

As the second half commenced, forwards Mary Harley, Sara Leatherland and Iris Jackson belied their Golden Years, proving they still had Sound and Vision as well as pace and an appetite for shots on goal. Lewes continued to have more of the play until, 2 minutes from full time, a Hailsham defender saved a shot with her feet. The resulting penalty flick was calmly converted by Zoe Richards.

Heroes of the match went to Laura ‘All the young dudes’ Rogers for tenacious defence and Richards for flick of the year. Quote from the umpire post match - ‘Was that the coolest flick ever, or was it accidental?’ Richards declined to comment.
