Worthing started the match one place below Lewes so it was always going to be a tight match. The 3's have not had the same team any week this season and, with senior players unavailable, the juniors were asked to step up again to play at the higher level. Lewes dominated the first half but could not convert their chances and started to force the play and the last 10 minutes were scrappy.
Following a regroup at half time and asking for some composure in the D, the breakthrough finally came with a neatly worked goal down the right, finished superbly by Sue Storey. The second came from a short corner that broke down but was skillfully converted with a clinical strike from the top of the circle. Then Naomi Blackwell scored her first ever goal for Lewes with a tap in at the far post after good work down the right hand channel. Lewes conceded a scrappy goal late on but by then the match was won and 3 points secured.
