FIXTURE: SLL Div 1
HOME TEAM: Lewes Ladies 3s 2 (Riley 2)
AWAY TEAM: Horsham Ladies 4's 0
Lewes Ladies 2s faced a side so many places higher than them in the league, more hoping than expecting to take points from the game.
Early Horsham dominance caught the defence on the back foot, and it was only thanks to outstanding saves from keeper Seren Sharpe that the scores were still level after a frantic 20 minutes .
Having weathered the storm, Lewes grew in confidence, winning a penalty corner which Sara Riley neatly fired home for a welcome lead.
After the break the first half pattern was repeated with early Horsham pressure which the Lewes defence withstood.
A moment of brilliance from first half scorer Sara Riley saw her beat several Horsham players in the D, rifling the ball into the far corner to extend the lead for the hosts.
Lewes are currently comfortably mid table, with the ambition to be in the top third by the Christmas break.
