Lewes found themselves under pressure from the whistle, and in spite of a superb performance from keeper Seren Sharpe, conceded mid-way through the first half.

Undeterred, Lewes played with new impetus, and wing backs Catriona Milne and Harriet Wheatley were outstanding in supporting an increasingly confident Lewes attack.

In spite of being the stronger team in the second half, Chichester hung on to their slim lead. Every player gave 100% in a well fought match, and with great performances from youngsters Amany Russ, Hannah Williams and Ellie Harding, the points are not too far away.
