Lewes 2s good form continues
By Simon Bullmore
The 2s travelled to 11th place Chichester on Saturday hoping to build on their emphatic win against Brighton last weekend.
Lewes had to play a patient, passing game, utilising the width of the pitch as Chichester sat back and defended resolutely - which Lewes soon realised was going to be their game plan.
Emily Chevvassut was the first to hit the target with a well-worked goal, which she guided past the keeper about ten minutes in. Shortly after, captain Fi Tubb tapped in a rebounded shot to make it two for Lewes.
With Lewes defence playing high, supporting the numerous attacking moves Lewes created for themselves, they should probably have been further ahead going into the half time break.
The second half saw Chichester struggle to keep possession of the ball as Lewes worked brilliantly as a unit involving the whole team to produce attack upon attack. Meg Hersey got Lewes' third after a textbook passage of play left the home side exposed at the back. And finally, Amy Boyse made it four, slotting it past the keeper leaving Chichester's tired defence forlorn and dismayed.
Lewes remain 3rd in the Sussex Premier League and look forward to hosting bottom of the league Worthing next week.
