Lewes were on top from the first whistle, showing real intent. But some promising play didn't seem to result in any clear-cut chances. The opposition was physical, testing the umpires with body checks and leading arms. The movement from the Lewes players was pulling the home team all over the place, with some excellent skill on show. After one particularly silky run from Libby Youngman, the Tulse Hill defender was again forced to play the physical angle resulting in a yellow card and her suspension from the game. This was the push Lewes needed. With mounting pressure the opposition gave away a number of penalty corners and finally Lewes put one away, a great strike from Sarah Hall was fumbled by the keeper and Laura Malloy was clinical on the rebound.
More excellent build-up play lead to another goal and Lewes were comfortable at 2-0 for a large chunk of the game. Unfortunately there was a slip in concentration when they conceded a goal. But they were thankfully saved from a nervous finish when Sarah Hall slotted away another short corner.
