Under incremental downpours of rain, the Lewes Ladies 1s had an away game against Barnes this weekend.

From the outset, the ladies demonstrated some great attacking play which created scoring opportunities to take an early lead. Not much time had passed before Laura Molloy had a shot on goal which Poppy Joshi expertly deflected into the back of the net. Poppy (recent World Champion Power Lifter and Deadlift World Record Holder) was on a roll and soon found the opportunity to launch a ball into the left-hand side of the goal. A third goal was to follow early in the second half from Laura Molloy who made a timely run to the penalty spot and secured the ladies third goal.

Soon after the Lewes Ladies lost their rhythm under the heavy rain but managed to hold off the opposition and were victorious with a 3-1 win and another 3 points.

Lewes moved from 7th to 4th in the table and have now placed themselves in contention to make a real impact on this league. Onwards and upwards with a home game against Wanderers next Saturday at 3pm.
