Match report: Flaminia Martin
The 1s started strong with some excellent connections and textbook patterns of play. Poppy Joshi took Lewes to an early lead with some close skills in the D to take the team 1-0 up. This was soon followed by a Lewes short corner which was successfully converted by Flaminia Martin with a deflection on the right post.
After halftime, Horsham raised their game. Lewes were tested and challenged conceding 2 goals early in the second half. Lewes quickly found their form again and re-discovered their quality connecting play from the first. Lewes captain Anna Hilton broke free and punished the ball into the top right-hand corner of the goal to clinch the victory.
There is a lot to be said for the positive attitudes of all members of the team, and the incredible support from the home spectators. Well done to Lewes player of the match Libby Youngman.
