Lewes Ladies 1 make a positive start despite losing opening game

Lewes Ladies 1s began their season campaign with an away trip to Southampton.

The team were excited to have some brand new players as well as a blast from the past with the return of some former Lewes players. Despite a newly formed team and still learning each other’s names the team put together an exceptional performance and a match widely enjoyed by all.

Southampton took an early lead but in true Lewes style the ladies retaliated with a fantastic open goal hitting the back net from new player Poppy Joshi. Southampton pushed us hard and scored a further two goals to take the end score to 3-1. Despite this, the Lewes Ladies have so many positives to take away from the day. The team gelled so well with excellent communication, positive chat and work rate which can only mean the ladies will go from strength to strength in their upcoming matches.

There is an air of excitement from all the team and they look forward to next weeks challenge from Chichester, followed by their first social of the season. Onwards and upwards!
