An early start is just what Lewes Ladies 1st X1 needed to blow away the Christmas cobwebs.
The team had a vigorous warm up led by Carly Wise, consequently they started strongly and were in the lead via a fantastic individual goal by Amelia Baron within the first 3 minutes.
A series of positive attacking plays saw Baron claim her second goal with an outrageous back hand mid air swing. The team continued to push hard with a strong defence that carefully controlled the play, releasing the midfield and forwards at the optimum moments. A late attack from Lewes saw defender Carly Wise sneak into the D pick up the ball and slot it past the keeper.
Heading into the second half the positive play form Lewes continued. throughout the game Lewes won multiple penalty corners and tested out some patterns of play they had been working on.
More goals quickly followed from Laura Molloy and Amelia Baron. The final score was 5-0 to lewes. The next round (semi finals) sees Lewes face Horsham 1s on 7th April away.
