Lewes were worthy winners over South Saxons with skipper Rob Heinzl the man of the match with his first hat- trick for two years.
Lewes dominated possession and three powerful shots from penalty corners from Heinzl gave Lewes a commanding half time lead. The second half saw Lewes relax their grip and Saxons responded with a close range goal and youngster Jack Troak and goalkeeper Chris Sharpe had to be alert to prevent them scoring a second. With ten minutes remaining Adam Stonley picked up the ball on half way and dribbled through before getting a return pass from James Coplestone and scoring on the reverse stick to clinch victory.
Lewes remain one point behind Chichester and one ahead of Hailsham as it gets to the business side of the season.
