They were made to pay for starting with only 10 players as Crowborough took the lead but when they had 11 players they dominated possession and were 3-1 up by half time with Adam Stonley scoring from close range; Martyn Stillman with a fierce shot into the roof of the net; and James Coplestone from a rebound.
Within a minute of the second half Stonley scored his second after a break and Lewes appeared in for a comfortable win. Crowborough fought back as the Lewes defence panicked and scored from a penalty corner and open play as both sides lost players to green cards. Lewes regained control and in the final minute Mike Fuller set up skipper Rob Heinzl to slot into an empty goal to seal victory.
