A scrappy opening came alive when James Coplestone converted a penalty stroke after the goalkeeper brought him down. Mike Fuller was prominent in most attacks down the left and it was no surprise when the lead was doubled when skipper Rob Heinzl scored with a powerful shot from a penalty corner. Heinzl then made the third for Paul Spruce who converted his cross.
The second half was a similar pattern with Billy Smart scoring with a rising shot from the top of the circle and then Coplestone grabbing his second from another cross from Heinzl. Lewes then relaxed and Mid Sussex scored twice from close range but the hosts deserved the victory.
