They opened the scoring against the run of play when Billy Smart's penalty corner strike was deflected into the goal by Paul Spruce. The defence absorbed a lot of pressure in the first half but youngster Jack Troak and keeper Chris Sharpe dealt with all the hosts’ attacks.
In the second half Lewes dominated possession for long periods and scored early on when the alert Bill Short scrambled the ball over the goal line following a scramble after another penalty corner. Ben Goodwin and Mike Fuller in midfield and Ed Cade and Simon Forster in defence were strong frustrating the home team and Lewes restricted them to one penalty corner throughout the whole match late in the second half which was cleared.
