Match reporter: Jamie Cooke.
The game started off at a quick pace, with the 3s dominating possession, and passing well, around the Crawley team. This strong start was rewarded early with Jamie Cooke scoring following a scramble in the penalty circle. Following the restart, Lewes maintained their composure, with Rich Pulley and Billy Smart controlling the midfield, and another good opportunity was created, which Jamie Cooke was quickly on the end of to make it 2-0 within 10 minutes.
Lewes’ direct and confident play lead to a flurry of opportunities, with Tom Harvey wiggling his way through the opposition to slot in yet another goal for Lewes. The half ended 5-0 with well-worked goals for both Toby Izzard and the returning George Martin.
After a stellar first-half performance, captain Tom Casselden emphasised the general consensus. Not much needed to be changed in the second half, and to keep the work rates high, as the game was not over just yet.
Lewes continued their domination of the game, with many quick passing sequences being made, utilising both wings of the pitch and creating many more opportunities which could have been scored, but they had to be careful about the counter-attack, which Hugo Youngman and Chris Picken were often swift to break down with their presence at the back, keeping a clean sheet.
Following a quick steal in the D, Jamie Cooke slotted across to George Martin who took his second of the game to make it 6-0 to Lewes.
Lewes now hold a 9 point lead at the top of the table after this cracking performance with lots to take going into the final few months of the season.
