This match saw Lewes deploy the same formation, discipline and attitude as seen last week at East Grinstead. The passing and movement of every Lewes attack repeatedly tearing into the flimsy Hailsham defence. Chances came frequently and goal followed goal with Tim Plail and Jamie Cooke both helping themselves to deserved trebles.
Will Champness adding another from a lightning rod of a high strike betwixt the stranded Hailsham keepers legs. Every man in the Lewes side outplayed their opposite number such was the completeness of the performance. In truth, the margin of victory could have been much much greater but for the Hailsham keeper. Billy Smart won a second consecutive MOM award for his tireless running, incisive passing and his desire to bombard the fence around the Hailsham goal in a frenzy of shots. This was an excellent all-round team performance and following the game, the news that East Grinstead had suffered another defeat meant Lewes now hold a 9 point lead moving forward into the away match at improving St Francis.
