Eastbourne Away proves too much for the Lewes 3's

Lewes travelled to Eastbourne for the early 10.15 push back. With some logistical issues, a 10 man starting formation had to defend from the off against a determined, hungry and well drilled Eastbourne Team.

Lewes lacked the normal clinical focus resulting in poor passing and very 1 dimensional play. Eastbourne controlled the half heading into the break 2-0 up, it could have been more if it wasn’t for the keeping talent of Stan Hughes between the sticks.

Some strong words and a ‘back to basic’ Lewes started to string some passes together and look a little more menacing. Some great play allowed Plail, Izzard, Martin and Webster to make some convincing attacks in the D but to no avail. Some great saves by the Eastbourne keeper and some industrial tackling from the Eastbourne CB denied Lewes the chance to get on the score board. Final score 2-0.

Despite the score, The mens 3’s remain 3 points clear at the top of the table. A welcome Christmas break allows the chance for the team to regroup and prepare for the challenges of the second half of the season.
