Lewes 3s fend off Brighton fight back

After an uneventful first half, this game sprang into life during the second period. For 20 minutes the home side played simple direct hockey and scored three goals worthy of their position at the top of the table. Sam Matthews with a well-struck opener, Tim Plail and George Martin all scored to leave Lewes 3-0 up with 15 minutes to play.

Brighton then stepped up a gear for the first time in the game and scored two goals from penalty corners. But it was too little too late for the visitors and the 3rd team's resolve and intent leaves them 6 points clear in the table.
