A dominant Mens 3s continued their unbeaten run with a solid performance against Worthing

Lewes faced Worthing for an evening game under the new floodlights. From the first whistle, Lewes looked settled and played some good hockey dominating the early play. Some good forward momentum saw Martin crash the ball into Harvey who, after rounding the keeper with a nice bit of skill, found the net to take the lead for Lewes.

Worthing didn’t look comfortable as Lewes stood strong passing the ball with ease around them. Martin found the net twice after running around the pitch like a man possessed.

Lewes eventually tired and Worthing scored a couple of late goals. Lewes soon retaliated and won a short corner. Jamie Cooke took the striking position and scored a drag flick low to the right-hand side. A good goal that was overly exaggerated by him in the bar afterwards. Lewes won the game 4-2. Credit goes to Picken, Dakin, Smart, Mathews, Martin and Harvey all receiving MOM nominations.

Overall MOM,Pete Dakin.

Next Saturday Lewes travel to south Saxons for what will a scrappy physical game no doubt. Martin was heard to say he very much looks forward to playing and will be there early to take the warm-up.
