South coast derby see Lewes capitulate

Lewes travelled to South Saxons for a game they knew would be physical. Saxons dominated the game in the first half, making the most of the play. The home side scored three goals in the half including one from a short corner. Then Lewes were awarded a penalty corner from some great forward play and Tom Casselden found the back board from a well worked corner routine.

Lewes started the second half much stronger and demonstrated how they normally play hockey but they conceded a further 2 goals. Sam Matthews put in a shift - as always - earning himself man of the match. A decision from the umpire saw Tom Harvey questioning and resulted in a green card which, after a further discussion, soon led to a yellow. Lewes fought hard with ten on the pitch and didn't concede any more.

Lewes face Brighton at home next Saturday at 3pm.
