Men's 3s get the win at 'Wick

The team began the first half in strong manner, with club top scorer George Martin hitting the post several times and before long a slap from Martin put the 3s 1-0 up. Unfortunately this is where the scoreline stayed. Joint men of the match Sam Matthews and Richard Pulley were the engine room in midfield, linking up well with the forwards and the wide men. After a decent first 35mins with a few strong passages of play the half ended 1-0.

After regrouping at the break, Lewes started the second half very well. DoD Adam Stonely missed or trod on a couple of absolute sitters, which would've put the 3s 3-0 up however it was not to be. Lewes continued this confident play and were rewarded with many shots on target and penalty corners, unfortunately none of these were converted. A powerful flick by Jamie Cooke was incredibly saved by the Southwick keeper, who had a outstanding performance.

Joint MoM and newcomer Gui Green worked very well down the right hand side, linking up with Oli Loader well. Unfortunately the 3s did not continue in this fashion and became sloppy, allowing Southwick to break several times in the closing stages. Fortunately the defence were generally there to clean up.

Lewes were still dominant in possession however too many of their passes went straight to the opposition who took advantage and on one occasion broke and looked menacing. Jamie Cooke was there to make a risky but well executed sliding tackle in the D.

The final whistle blew and the 3s came away with an important 3 points, and hope to continue their form into next week when they face Crawley at home.
