Lewes 3’s travelled away to face a very strong Brighton Rocks ready for a challenge.

Lewes opened the game with great intent but with Brighton Rocks defenders keeping Harvey, Amos and Loader out of their circle, scoring opportunities were hard to come by. Brighton continued to apply the pressure throughout the half with Lewes young keeper Billy Palmer having to clear his lines on more than one occasion. With no goals conceded in the first half everything was left to play for in the last 35 minutes.

Brighton attacked early in the second half pushing the Lewes midfield / defence hard and were quickly awarded a short corner. Another save by GK Palmer kept the scores level. Shortly after a free Brighton player got a shot away. 1 - 0. The exchanges between the 2 teams continued with some very even play. Lewes were executing the plan from half time and the midfield combination of Pulley, Matthews, Fuller, Casselden and Dakin channeled the Brighton players wide. Lewes where unable to convert their chances in the D but with some skilful work from Loader and Amos up front it bodes well for later in the season! Brighton converted a long corner opportunity to take the score to 2-0. Lewes continued the fantastic work rate and playing some great hockey until the final whistle.

Man of the match was awarded to Billy Palmer, with Fuller, Loader and Dakin also in contention.

The 3’s will look to regroup for next week’s home fixture against Horsham.
