Lewes Men's 3s vs Worthing Men's 3s

This was a hard fought game from the very start with both teams starting strongly. 10 minutes in, Worthing converted an attacking play to open the scoring (1-0). Lewes kept their composure and responded with several attacks. Minutes after, Lewes won a short corner. Injected by Fewster and stopped dead by Picken, the ball was struck by Martin and deflected in by Amos, a great first goal (1-1). Worthing fought back, with Lewes defending several short corners in the following minutes. A stunning breakaway saw Cooke and Saunders passing the ball between them down the right side, before passing it into the D for Martin to put into the net, textbook stuff (1-2).

Fresh from the half time talk, both Lewes and Worthing came out fighting. It was not long before Worthing found the back of the net (2-2). The game continued and Worthing scored a third goal (3-2). After this, Lewes got back into it and sent attacking wave after attacking wave, until they won a short corner. As before, Fewster injected with pinpoint accuracy, the ball was stopped at the top of the D and struck by Martin to score the equaliser (3-3). There were many chances for both sides even after this, but the score line remained the same at the final whistle, Worthing 3, Lewes 3.

A very tough game for Lewes from which nobody was unhappy with a draw. The team played very well and are showing signs of improvement week on week. Special mention must go to our men of the match Jamie Cooke and George Martin. Simon ‘The Wall' Bullmore had a fantastic game in goal, without whom Lewes would surely have conceded more than 3. Lastly, our thanks must go to Peter Thomas for stepping in last minute to umpire the match, as well as providing pre game coaching for the team.
