FIXTURE: Sussex Div 2
HOME TEAM: Lewes Men's 3s 1 (Sanders)
AWAY TEAM: Southwick Mens 2's 0
Fresh from the thrashing of Brighton, Lewes Men's 3s we’re in confident mood ahead of the visit of bottom of the table Southwick.
Expectations were for a second rout in as many weeks. However, those lofty thoughts were quickly dispelled as Southwick showed resilience and ability mocking their lowly league position.
Lewes dominated possession and territory but were frustrated in the final third. The best move of the game led to the opening, and as it transpired, the only goal of the game. The veterans Sam Matthews and Rich Pulley combining in midfield to release Jago Hussain on the right flank whose low cross to the P spot was emphatically finished by Sanders.
The second half continued in the same vein with Southwick gradually applying pressure as the clock ran down. Some timely interventions from Tom Fewster and Theo Whiting ensured Lewes ended 2017 in the upper echelons of the league table.
