LEAGUE: Sussex Div 2
HOME TEAM: Chichester Chipmunks 0
AWAY TEAM: Lewes Men's 3s 7 (Hancorn 1, Martin 6)
Lewes 3s made the long trek to play Chichester away in the league, with confidence lacking after recent defeats.
All that was needed was words of motivation from club coach Peter Thomas and team captain Tom Casselden to get us in winning ways - and it showed the second we got on the pitch.
Chichester had push back, but with Lewes’s high press we did not allow them to use push back as an advantage.
It only took a few minutes for Lewes to score: A tackle was made on Chichester’s last man and Fred Sanders and George Martin were through on goal. The ball was passed across goal and George Martin tucked it into the bottom corner to put lewes 1-0 up.
Lewes needed the early goal to raise their heads, and the goals didn't stop there: By the end of the first half Lewes had scored another five.
Second half our aim was to keep a clean sheet and with a well organised defence and some amazing saves from Billy Palmer this was made possible.
I can't fault anyone that played but the MOTM went to Eddie Casselden for a massive defensive effort. That is the first of many wins this season for the Lewes 3s (hopefully).
