Chichester 3's 6 - Lewes 3's 1

Saturday saw Chichester travel to Lewes for an interesting cup match. Lewes arrived with 15 players which helped diminish the Christmas turkey side effects.

The first half saw Chichester dominate, with a young, athletic but experienced side. Chichester were awarded a short corner after the first 10 minutes, which they slotted away. This put them in good stride and another 2 goals shortly followed, 3-0 by half time. Lewes shouldn't be overlooked, some great attacking play from Harry Davenport and Ollie Loader kept Lewes spirits up, not to mention Jamie Cooke on the left hand side and the solid defence from Gui Green and Pete Thomas.

After the whistle blew for the second half Lewes started with great intent passing the ball around quickly, accurately and starting to rattle the Chichester defence. A few shots where attempted by Sherwood, Amos and Davenport however nothing came from them. Chichester then scored another 3 goals in quick succession making it 6-0, it could have been many more if defending from Max Wootten and Gui wasn't as disciplined. Within the last 5 minutes Lewes were awarded a short corner which Seb Daniels pushed into the goal making the score 6-1 and not to mention a cheer from the Lewes supporters. A strong midfield should also get a special mention to Pulley, Mathews and Casselden who put up a good fight every week.

A great team performance against a well disciplined, highly skilled Chichester side. Congratulations to Harry Davenport who was awarded man of the match from his great attacking pieces of play.
