Lewes started strongly with Ian Whiting, Wenzel and Daniels dominating the midfield and it was Daniels who took advantage of poor defending to slot under an on-rushing Brighton keeper and put Lewes 1-0 up. However Brighton fought back to level 1-1 shortly before half time.
Lewes started the second half brightly with Parnell, Petty, Rideout and Spedding all linking up well, the latter two combining as Rideout drove along the baseline and squared to Spedding to put Lewes 2-1 up. However, despite the hard defensive work of Anderson, Chris Whiting, Fuller and Lee, Lewes suffered the usual 'farcical fifteen minutes' and conceded two goals in quick session leaving them 3-2 down with ten minutes left and two players off the pitch due to suspension.
Back to full strength for the final ten minutes, Lewes surged forward and with three minutes left earned a succession of short corners, the last of which Max Spedding drag-flicked into the roof of the net, securing a valuable point for Lewes.
Next week they travel to second placed South Saxons where a win would bring them to two points behind the hosts.
