After a disappointing away loss to Cliftonville last week, the 2s were looking to bounce back

With a home fixture against local rivals Mid Sussex 1s. After a delayed start due to a frosty pitch, Lewes started to assert their home advantage and went ahead though a slick team goal as Seb Daniels picked out Sam Heinzl down the right who squared to Wood to calmly finish. Whilst play was quite even, Lewes failed to capitalise from short corners and Mid Sussex had opportunities but were kept at bay by Pewter, Fuller, Tonkin, Green and Pillar meaning Lewes went into the break with a slim 1-0 lead.

The second half started off at a fast pace with Mid Sussex on the attack but Lewes managed to gain more control in midfield and as a result went 2-0 up when Alex Lickorish burst through the Mid Sussex defence and picked out Mike Wood, again lurking on the p-spot. With a 2-0 lead, Lewes started to relax, giving Mid Sussex space and time on the ball, spurring them on. As a result, Mid Sussex gained a number of penalty corners and despite some defensive heroics from Pewter in goal, Lewes could not stop a well-placed deflection to make the score 2-1. Shocked from the onslaught, the next chance fell to Mid Sussex who made no mistake to level at 2-2 with 15 minutes left.

Conceding two quick goals kicked Lewes into action and good pressure resulted in Mid Sussex receiving two separate yellow cards in the 2nd half but Lewes were unable to capitalise; Mike Wood just missing out on the winner and hat trick and the trade mark Andy Green deflection taking a cruel bobble. The final score remained 2-2 with neither team particularly satisfied.

Next is a big game away to BBHC who are 1 point lower in the league.
