Lewes 2s headed into saturday’s match against Brighton 4s looking for their 3rd straight win. From the off the boys in green absorbed a lot of pressure from the opposition until eventually a Brighton player wriggled his way through a number of Lewes defenders before striking a reverse low into the corner of the goal. Lewes 1-0 down.
With the continued threat of the Brighton team, Lewes made a tactical decision to change formation in the hope of gaining control in the game. As the first half progressed Lewes were unlucky to concede a second goal and went into half time 2-0 down.
Following a positive emotion fueld team talk from Seb Daniels, Lewes flew out of the blokes in the second half dominating possession in midfield through Danny Poulsen, Tom Clinch, Oliver Wilkinson and Oli Loader, and finally won a few short corners. The pressure was relentless and finally Lewes got on the score sheet with some fantastic play resulting in Jack Searl stealing the ball from the defender and slotting the ball into the back of the net.
Shortly after Brighton were able to extend their lead once more after a terrible misjudgment from Jamie Neill who seemed to think that his stick was far longer than it actually was, allowing the Brighton forwards an easy tap in. 3-1 Brighton.
The game continued in Lewes favour but the forward line of Seb Daniels, jack Searl, Oliver Amos and Jamie Cooke were unable to get lucky inside the D. The game ended 3-1 with the Lewes players disappointed, knowing they could have got more. However as always we regroup and go again next week with a game against high flyers Horsham 2s, a team Lewes has already beaten this season.
