Crawley Creepy Past Battling Lewes

On a wonderfully grey Saturday morning the boys from Lewes arrived at the delightful Hazelwick school in Crawley. An unusually long warm up for the team gave us some opportunity to get used to the pitch that Crawley have decided is good enough to play on, but alas we couldn't find our touch for the first 10 minutes of the game.

A bit if sloppy play and some fine finishing from the Crawley front 3, Lewes saw themselves 2 goals down with little return. Trying to pick ourselves up we spurred on to get something back in the first half but some rouge umpiring and an interesting new tackling technique from Crawley rather hampered our attempts.

A strong team talk and a change of formation gave us a new spirit in the second half, we played some lovely hockey and probably should have come away with more than 2 goals but our finishing just slightly let us down. 2 more runaway goals from Crawley too left us a bit deflated at the final whistle. Lots to work on but a wonderful spirit displayed by the boys, with some excellent hockey in between.
