Brawdy Brighton Take Narrow Victory

The weather was damp but the spirits of the Lewes 2's players wasn't. The game started but Lewes just couldn't find their footing but luckily neither could the Brighton players. As the half drew on we began to get more and more chances supported by the strong back four of Sam Rea, Chris Whiting, Jamie Neill and Theo Whiting but couldn’t break through Brighton’s grubby defence

After a stern half time team talk the second half started with Lewes on the upper hand creating many chances. 10 minutes in some brilliant play with Oli Loader, Tom Bentley and Theo Whiting saw Ali Hancorn firmly hitting the post, the deflection falling to Theo whose following shot clearly was unlucky not to win a short corner.

However, poor discipline was to be the game decider as Theo Whiting saw yellow and Sam Rea green which disrupted the play of Lewes, allowing Brighton room to get into the box and fire it at the backboard giving them a 1-0 lead.
Now with 11 players on the pitch Lewes kept on knocking at the door but the attempts weren't fruitful and the game ended with a Brighton clean sheet.

There were positives to the game from Lewes and we didn't leave with our heads down just with optimistic feelings for the following week.
