Lewes 2 X1 travelled to Worthing looking for a win to repay a double loss from the previous year. After a strong, positive team talk from the skipper, in a dark damp somewhat urine scented corner of the field. Lewes strode towards the pitch fuelled by a veritable feast of bananas and Ritz biscuits. Worthing looked worried.
A strong start saw Lewes transferring the ball well and dominating the play. A killer pass from Chris Whiting saw Seb Daniels slot the ball comfortably into the goal. After a strong celebration in front of the opposition keeper, Daniels finally made his way back to the halfway line. Oliver Amos showed his strength by scoring two goals, one from a short corner and one from a quick breakaway. Credit goes to Oli Loader for a dominant centre midfield display showing mature position and skill beyond his years.
Lewes let their guard down towards the end and let Worthing score a couple of cheap goals but they managed to pick themselves up and hold onto the lead.
Next week Lewes 2 X1 play Brighton, at home, at 3pm
MOM: Oli Loader
DOD: Drew Wain for missing an open goal and losing his stick.
