They had the benefit of former Great Britain Olympic goalkeeper Sean Rowlands in goal. He normally plays in midfield but was called upon to play in goal for this match and showed no signs of rustiness even though he had not played there for over twenty years.
Lewes opened the scoring midway through the first half when Paul Spruce was put through by Sam Matthews and he slotted the ball in. Despite a number of penalty corners and chances for Lewes it was Penguins who equalised just before half time from a well struck penalty corner strike. In the second half Penguins were awarded a penalty stroke but Rowlands showed his experience with a good save and this woke Lewes up. Mike Fuller scored with a shot from the top of the circle and quickly after Rob Heinzl thundered in a penalty corner strike to make the points safe. Lewes stay fifth in the league with three matches remaining.
