For the first 15 minutes of this game Lewes were on top and were rewarded at the end of a fluent passing move when Jack Troak dribbled across the D, drew the keeper, rounded him and slotted home. Looking for more goals Lewes pushed forward and were quickly caught out as South Saxons found their mojo, scoring twice before the break.
The home side came racing out of the blocks again in the second half and the Lewes Skipper soon found the back of the net, connecting with a fiercely struck free hit from Cookie. Unfortunately, both Lewes umpires spotted the ball had not travelled 5 yards before being struck into the D and the goal was rightly disallowed.
