With six changes in their line up Lewes struggled to turn their possession into goals. They had a number of penalty corners in the first half but found the Hailsham goalkeeper in good form.
In the second half Lewes continued to dominate but were too profligate in front of goal. They failed to convert some good chances and further penalty corners as the Hailsham defence held firm and David Mansell and Ed Cade in the Lewes defence dealt with their sporadic attacks. In the final stages both sides became frustrated and had players temporarily sent off but the hosts could not get the crucial goal to seal victory.
