U14 Boys pipped at the final whistle losing out 4 - 3 to Horsham in the Sussex Cup Semi-Final
A great performance for the U14 - who led 3-0 with 14 minutes to play but sadly ran out of energy.
A great team effort produced some great team goals for the u14. First on the score sheet was Josh Randal who finished a great team moved started from a great interception in defence by Bear Nugent, a surging run by the energetic Joe Wenstrom who exchanged passes with Hugh Middleton, and Joe Palmer before launching a unstoppable shot paste Horsham keeper. Lewes played some great hockey with Will Heine, Charley Holmes and Xavier Annouk solid defence provided an attacking platform for Lewes. Oliver Das, Hugh Middleton and Josh Randall excelling in midfield and Charlie Branton, Joe Palmer, Rufus Hodgkinson, Matthew Branton and William Ward causing problems for the Horsham Defence. Following great approach play by Hugh and Josh, Joe Palmer squeezed a shot in at the near post and Lewes were 2- 0 at Halftime.
With Lewes continuing to dominate Oliver Das finished another fine move. Horsham imposed their physicality in the final quarter and muscled a tiring Lewes side out of the game with 4 quick gaols. Sam Harrop playing solidly in goal was left exposed in a number of 1 on1 situations. A great game of hockey with a nail biting finish which sadly went against the Lewes side. A fine team performance.
