Cracking start for Lewes Boys Under 10's
Boys pick up where they finished last season, with encouraging performances from both teams
Two Under 10 Boys teams travelled to Eastbourne for a "friendly" tournament with Eastbourne and Brighton. At this young age, match time is such a valuable experience, so all credit to those who organised the session that had the teams play three fifteen minute games against each other. Thank you Tasha, David and James from the three respective clubs.
Lewes' two teams were their Leopards and Falcons.
Falcons: Sam boynton (g), Toby brown, Edward Wheatley, Jack Avent, Callum Hart, Josiah Wood, Ben Board, Emma Board and JC Neething-Taylor.
Leopards: Sam Harrop (g), Theo Hall, Henry Oates, Alex Rogers-Pereira , Hugo Ullman, Zac Fewster, Sam Jackson
The Lewes Falcons' three games were close fought matches, with some near misses on goal. At the other end there was some stubborn defending and some great keeping from Sam (Mark 2) our new young keeper who showed some real promise. Falcons scores were:
Eastbourne, lost 1-0
Brighton, drew 0-0
Lewes Leopards, lost 1-0
The Lewes Leopards played first against Brighton. Crisp passing through a front line of Theo, Henry and Hugo created two excellent goals for Theo. Winners 2-0.
Eastbourne were up next and experienced another great display of attacking hockey with Hugo bagging two and Henry one, Lewes were winners again 3-0.
The Leopards' last game verses their sparring partners, the Falcons, was much closer with goalie Sam Harrop getting into the action to stop a number of missed Falcon chances from Josiah, Toby, Ben and Callum. The Leopards kept their shape though and after their attacking line broke free, Theo was able to slip the deciding shot passed the younger Sam. Leopards again winners, 1-0. Well done on that attacking shape and passing.
All in all a great experience for Lewes boys' new young bloods. You should be proud of how you played as teams and cheered afterwards.
