Game 1 - Lewes 1-2 Worthing
A difficult first game with a fast initial goal for Lewes being equalised by a well constructed goal from Worthing. An excellent display of defensive hockey from Rupert stopped the majority of attacking moves from Worthing, who had a fast and skilled centre forward. Game was lost late in the half when a shot on goal deflected high off a defenders stick and sailed over Theo into goal - not much you can do about those.

Game 2 - Lewes 3-2 Eastbourne
Good performance from Lewes with very fast ball movement causing problems for the Eastbourne defence. Lewes controlled the majority of the game but a couple of goals from Eastbourne, caused by their attackers getting in behind the Lewes defence, made the scoreline tighter. Techniques to improve awareness of where attackers are and getting 'goal side' in defence is something we'll work on. There were a lot of positives from this game with improved calling, fast passing and controlled exiting out of defence. The positional play from Lewes in this game was very good with Alexs' forward movement and clear and loud calling enabling rapid transition from the midfield and a number of shots on goal. There were also some good examples of defence creating attack with a strong overlap run from Hugo in the back line driving an attacking wave - an excellent example of 'pass and move'. The other highlight was the short corner injection from Ed that was commented on by the opposition coach for how fast and precise it was, resulting in a goal for Lewes.

Game 3 - Lewes 5-1 Brighton
A dominant performance from Lewes with more positive attacking play from the backline. Wren played a very good game distributing the ball out of defence and setting up a wealth of attacking moves. Good width and movement created by Huxley and Bill on the wings, stretched the Brighton defence, resulting in numerous chances for Lewes. Once again some exceptional goalkeeping from Theo stopping a number of shots on goal for Brighton. The speed and attack on the ball from Stan was a delight to watch and rewarded with a couple of good goals
Goals - Stan 2, Wilfie 2 and Ed 1
Players of the match - Wren and Stan
Player of the tournament - Theo
Demonstrated good technique with pads tight together as he approached attackers, hands high and well positioned, crowded the attacker when in close and excellent reactions. A really dominant performance in goal and a series of games you should be very proud of.
Final extra practice match was played with Lewes defeating Eastbourne 3-1.
